Inifinity G35 & Dodge Viper Comparison
Infiniti G35 Overview
With a fresh redesign last year, the 2008 Infiniti G35 comes back this year with updated technology and
navigation packages to an already impressive sports sedan.
Four trim levels are available, including base, Journey, G35x, and Sport. All models share the same
ultra-smooth 3.5 liter V6 engine with 306 horsepower which provides effortless acceleration. It's available with a 5-speed automatic transmission
with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching, or a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission in Sport models. The G35x features intelligent
all-wheel drive, offering excellent traction and power in all weather conditions. An exciting new option, 4-wheel active steering, includes
firmer suspension tuning and the ability to turn all four wheels at once, taking handling dynamics to a whole new level.
Key exterior features include a selection of stylish 17” and 18” alloy wheels for major style, high-intensity discharge automatic
headlights for superior illumination and bright LED taillights. Inside, the standard 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passenger’s
seat make the drive more comfortable. The Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition makes unlocking and staring the vehicle easy. The
standard 6-speaker audio system includes a CD player with MP3 capability and auxiliary input jack to accommodate your iPod® for hours of
digital music. The available Navigation Package includes a navigation system with LCD touchscreen, XM NavTraffic® with real-time traffic
updates, a 9.3 GB Music Box hard drive with compact flash slot to play MP3 files, voice recognition, and a RearView Monitor to assist with
parking maneuvers.
Safety features include dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and roof-mounted curtain
airbags for front and outboard passenger protection. The standard 4-wheel anti-lock braking system combined with Electronic Brake force
Distribution and Brake Assist provides superior stopping power and prevents wheel lockup. Vehicle Dynamic Control with the Traction Control
System helps to keep the vehicle stable and secure during emergency maneuvers, and helps to minimize wheelspin on slippery surfaces.
Certainly one of the sexiest luxury sedans on the planet, the 2008 Infiniti G35 is a visual delight to behold.
Fortunately, it also backs up the stylish exterior with sublime performance and a well-rounded array of features.
Dodge Viper vs. Infiniti G35 Comparison
Performance
Regarding horsepower, the Dodge Viper packs quite a punch and will knock the Infiniti down a few rungs. On the
flip side, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.
Handling
The Dodge Viper has tremendously wider tires than the Infiniti G35. Note that bigger tires can look and feel
better, while narrower tires might provide better handling in deep snow. With their similar turning radiuses, the Infiniti G35 and the Dodge
Viper quite certainly handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.
Drivetrain
The Infiniti G35's engine is tremendously smaller than the Dodge Viper's. Note that smaller engines can be
stressed more; on the other hand, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. The G35 could learn a lesson or two from the Dodge Viper in
terms of torque. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Dodge Viper is tremendously more powerful than
the Infiniti.
Utility
Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the Infiniti G35 over the Dodge Viper.
Comfort
Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the Infiniti G35's front cabin compared to the
Dodge Viper.
Dimensions
The Infiniti G35 is a tad heavier than the Dodge Viper. The Dodge Viper's tank is approximately the same size
as the Infiniti G35's, though the Infiniti G35's is slightly bigger. The Infiniti G35 rides lower than the Dodge Viper, which is a good thing for
its center of gravity and ease of access. The Dodge Viper and the Infiniti G35 compete for the same parking spaces. The Infiniti G35's longer
wheelbase will likely result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the other hand, the Viper may give a more agile feel in daily
traffic.
Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the
dealer. The Infiniti is substantially cheaper to get to the dealership than the Dodge Viper. As far as MSRP, the Infiniti G35 costs tremendously
less than the Dodge Viper. The Infiniti will save you a bunch of money at the pump every year compared to the Dodge Viper.
Overview
The basic warranty that comes with the Dodge isn't quite as generous as the Infiniti G35's.
